This is more about the length of Crowder’s tenure than his performance. The Celtics acquired Crowder, among other assets, from the Mavericks in 2014 for Rajon Rondo in a move that seems like an absolute steal in hindsight.
Are the Broncos in a rebuild? If they take a quarterback here, it would signify as much. But if Denver makes a big splash on a quarterback in free agency, it’s more of a soft rebuild. If it does that, fixing the offensive line is a must. An offensive tackle would be the preference, but there just isn’t one worth this high of a choice. Nelson is considered by some as the draft’s top player
Missing out on Kirk Cousins and seeing Barkley and Nelson gone would make for a bad Jets offseason. In an ideal situation they’d get the veteran quarterback and another top piece for the offense. If they fail to do that, going after a quarterback in the first round needs to happen. In this case, that’s Mayfield. An even more ideal scenario would be to get Mayfield and let him sit behind a solid starter like one of the Vikings quarterbacks.
With Chubb, Barkley, and Nelson all gone, the Buccaneers could turn to whomever they consider to be the draft’s top offensive tackle. For me, that’s Brown. He’s a massive blocker on the edge and beats defenders with his sheer size and power.
The Jets have more than $70 million in cap room and a 5-11 roster, so the game plan is clear. A chunk of the money could go to Kirk Cousins, their No. 1 target, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if they show interest in top cornerbacks Trumaine Johnson and Malcolm Butler. Their philosophy is to build through the draft — they own the sixth overall pick — but they have too many needs to let the cap money burn a hole in their pocket. — Rich Cimini
DeRozan had a hot start, and for a short time, it looked like he’d be an MVP candidate after turning himself into a quality 3-point shooter. Alas, his numbers have dropped since then, but he is still averaging 23.7 points and a career-high 5.7 assists, a product of Toronto’s revamped offensive approach.
His 3-point shooting, even at a mere 33.0 percent, is still the second-best mark of his career. The break is probably well-timed for him, as he has averaged just 15.8 points on 38.1 percent shooting in his last six games.
